"The best place for Palm to hide a software glitch so it can't be found is in one of their wireless devices, because nobody's buying them..."
- Jeff Macke on CNBC, commenting on today's announcement by Palm
that it was again withdrawing firmware updates for Treo devices
because of real-world upgrade problems

Most folks involved in the erstwhile Palm Ecosystem have long since given up on trying to figure out how Palm could so thoroughly screw the pooch.
Someone a lot smarter than I will undoubtedly write a b-school case or three on the subject (if they haven't already).

Yeah. I dropped my Treo 700W. Granted, some of the issues with that one were Microsoft's. Still, a sync setup that creates a large number of temp files every time you sync it, and quickly clogs the device's memory? And no solution to it to date? I realize that this doesn't impact Exchange users, but for a guy like me who syncs by cable to a single machine with Outlook on it, it was impossible. Every week I'd have to stop to delete temp files. What a mess.
